I’m adding another reading challenge to the list for 2010 – the Aussie Author Challenge hosted by Booklover Book Reviews.
There are two levels: ‘Tourist’ at 3 books, and ‘Fair Dinkum’ at 8. I’ll defintely get through at least three Aussie books this year, but not sure whether I’ll manage eight, so it looks like I’m a tourist in my own country :).
I’ve already read: Remembering Babylon by David Malouf.
Others on the cards:
- The Trout Opera by Matthew Condon
- Carpentaria by Alexis Wright
- Breath by Tim Winton
Any suggestions?
The D!
Thanks for joining me in my Aussie Author Challenge! You have some great books on your radar – look forward to sharing reviews!
I’m keen to join the challenge too, tho without the burden of blogging. It’s about time I give Cloudstreet another go (yes I am probably the only person who hated it but then I was only 18yo), & try Peter Carey & David Malouf. (What have I been doing up til now??) I might as well read The Book Thief even tho a friend spoilt the ending. Perhaps PERHAPS even another Richard Flanagan. Definitely no more Kate Grenville for me!!!
How about we both read Flannagan’s ‘Wanting‘ – supposed to be pretty good!!
OK, ‘Wanting’ it is. I’ll read it after I finish my current feel-good run of Guernsey Literary, Cheerful Ladies, and Family & Other Animals. Given my experience of Flannagan I think I will need all the feel-good I can get!
